BOOK AND POSTERS
BOOK

When Don Li-Leger released his first abstract and semi-abstract paintings in 1999, the saturated colours, Asian influences, geometric elements and collage took many people by surprise.
Li-Leger had built a flourishing career as one of Canada’s foremost wildlife painters and printmakers, and his decision to pursue a new avenue of painting must have seemed risky, to say the least. As time would show, however, Li-Leger was able to successfully make the transition, and in so doing, gained a whole new audience. This is not only a fascinating phenomenon, but a testament to the calibre of Li-Leger’s art.
The publication of a book on Don Li-Leger’s recent painting has long been anticipated. Don Li-Leger Paintings brings together a signficant collection of Li-Leger’s work created between 1999 and 2005.
In addition to the stunning colour plates, and essay, chronology and bibliography attempt to contextualize Li-leger’s oeuvre and to address a conspicuous void in the documentation of his most recent works.
